Book Review!

Clockwork Angel!

Clockwork Angel is the first book In the Infernal Devices Trilogy written by Cassandra Clare.

When Sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray arrive in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, something terrifying is waiting for her in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gas lit streets. Friendless and hunted, Tessa seeks refuge with the Shadowhunters, a band of warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons. Drawn ever deeper into their world, she finds herself fascinated by – and torn between – two best friends and quickly realises that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

I had seen this book on many booktubers shelves, after reading nothing but good things about the whole trilogy, I finally got the whole Infernal Devices Trilogy! I had high hopes for this trilogy so I decided to pick up the first book right away.

It took me a while to get through this book, due to being told not to read until I got my glasses, but I really enjoyed it. I really love starting a new series especially when it includes entering a whole new world, you get learn all about the characters and the world they live in, in this case you find out what they are and what abilities they have… It really fascinates me.

Finding out that Tessa is a shape shifter made me a little scared that I was going to not enjoy it but it really was amazing to read, especially when she is just coming to terms with what she is and what she can do.

William Herondale is a moody jackass, but you can’t help but fall in love with him, the more you read the more you understand that he is hiding something and pushing himself away for a reason but you don’t know what it is.

Jem Carstairs hat to be my favourite character, he is just so sweet and caring. I myself could feel Tessa sort of falling for him but the again could also feel her love for Will growing.

Aside from the characters, Cassandra Clare’s writing is just amazing I find myself turning pages faster than ever, she manages to write book that just flow together so perfectly. Normally an author is so into describing what someone or something looks like, so you can get a clear image in your head, that they ramble on for ages and it diverts you from the story for a while, but Cassandra Clare manages to describe an image so clear in just a matter of words.

All in all I really enjoyed this story, I love the setting, the time period, characters and everything  in between.

If you haven’t read this book or trilogy I really recommend that you do. Also you should read some of Cassandra Clare’s other books!

I read this book back in April and I am still astounded by it.

I rated this book 5/5 Stars!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Great review! You’ll soon find out why Will acts that way and I assure you, then you’ll need some tissues 🙂 I was heartbroken when the series finished—the books are just too good! Lovely blog 😀
