The Duff by Kody Keplinger
* Meet Bianca.
Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper knows shes not the hottest girl at school, but when school jock and man-slut Wesley casually refers to her as a DUFF-
DESIGNATED UGY FAT FRIEND
– the gloves are off! But then before she knows it, Bianca finds herself in a secret enemies-with-benefits relationship with Wesley.
If there’s a thin line between love and hate then Bianca has crossed it. She just never thought she was capable of breaking anyone’s heart.*
This book was definitely not what expected but I still enjoyed it. I seemed to be like a typical high school story, typical ‘unattractive’ girl, barely noticed by anyone but it’s so much more than that, I love how sassy and upfront Bianca can be, the comebacks she comes up with are hilarious! I can relate to Bianca’s home life, divorced parent’s but unfortunately neither one of my parents travel or have written a book. Wesley Rush, he’s the typical school jock in all American high school movies, gets all the girls, is popular but there’s always something happening in their home or private life that no one knows about. Toby Tucker sounds like the sweetest cupcake ever, The ending is just fabulous. I do feel like this book is a little over hyped, even more so now that the movie has been released, which I watched because I really liked the book. The movie is completely different from the book, so much that I actually forgot what movie I was watching half way through because I didn’t recognise anything.
I gave this book 4/5 stars.
Thank you for reading this review and I’m sorry its been a while, I’ve just been really busy. 🙂
