Reading Music.

When I pick up a book and decide to read I like to be in control of the volume around me, so I tend to venture off to my room for some piece and quiet.
If I were to read downstairs, where all of my family usually are, the volume and noise wont be under my control and I feel like I wont concentrate and fully appreciate the book.
I recently experimented to see if i would be able you read while listening to music, two of my favourite things in the whole word.
Music makes up the majority of my day, along with books, food and instagram.
I discovered that I was able to listen to music, but only certain music. Some of my favourites that I can listen to are; Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, Fleetwood Mac, Paramore, certain My Chemical Romance songs, Led Zeppelin, Ed Sheeran and Mayday Parade. I listen to these bands on a daily basis so I was very pleases to know that I can enjoy them whilst reading. Unfortunately there are a lot of bands that I am unable to listen to whilst reading such as Pierce The Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, certain My Chemical Romance songs, and a lot more of my favourite bands and artists. I feel I can get too caught up in the music I’d have to read the same page 5 times and i’ll still have no idea what it says.
Obviously everyone is different when it comes to reading. If I tend to dislike a book that i’m reading I tend to listen to a little music to keep me interested and help me get through the book.
Just a few songs from my Reading Playlist;
The Only Exception by Paramore

Lithium by Nirvana

Seven Wonders by Fleetwood Mac
Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac

Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac
As Long As You Follow by Fleetwood Mac
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac

When You See My Friends by Mayday Parade

Mardy Bum by Arctic Monkeys
I Don’t Love You by My Chemical Romance

Fake Your Death by My Chemical Romance

Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys
Knee Socks by Arctic Monkeys
Stay by Mayday Parade
Decode by Paramore

If you were to actually see my full Reading Playlist, there would be a lot more Fleetwood Mac, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Nirvana, a few Oasis songs here and there and a hell of a lot more Arctic Monkeys.
Not my photo, i just googled music and books.👍🏻

Book Review #5

Luck by Alison Prince

As I have finally plucked up the courage to visit the library by myself, I went to pick up some books that I reserved, I had a good look around at all the books and decided that if a book caught my eye, I would check it out and read it. I looked around in the Teenage section for a while and I spotted this book. The cover and the blurb both intrigued me to read it. I didn’t really know what to expect while reading this book, after all it was only 53 pages but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and read it because I remembered that I found it interesting, not because I wanted another book to boost my good reads goal.

I decided to read this book when I took a break from the book I was reading at the time (Slammed by Colleen Hoover). Luck took me not even 10 minutes to read and I was surprised that when I first opened the book the first line read “My mum is slag.”.  The way the pages and text is set out reminds me of the books I used to read in Primary School or further back and the reason for this is because the publishers, Barrington Stoke, is and independent publisher that edits and design books to help reluctant, struggling or dyslexic readers, which I personally think is amazing.

I felt like Luck gave out a message though, not a powerful or life changing one but a message at least. I think it shows that if you make on good choice or do one good deed bigger and better things can follow.

Although its only 53 pages, even less is you remove the illustrations, the book contains robbery, gangs a car incident and some other topics like immigration and broken families/homes. I gave Luck 3/5 Stars 🙂 DSC_1507

Book review #4

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

(May contain spoilers)

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray, has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street, and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends. With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life.

To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move, and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will; the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets, and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do? As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

As this is the second book in a trilogy, The Infernal Devices, you would asume that the second book would be better than the first, and it was. It’s been a few months and i’ve read alot of books since reading this one but as i’m now currently reading Clockwork Princess it all seems to be coming back to me.  I gave this book 4.5/5 stars 😀

The reason behind Will’s constant need to push everyone away is realved. When he was younger he opened a pyxis, releasing a demon which attacked him, his older sister fought it off, the demon put a curse on Will. A curse that meant that anyone who loves Will would die. Which Will belived was true when his older sister dies the next morning.  Will asks Magnus bane to help find the demon to get the curse lifted. When will finally finds the demon he finds out that the curse was fake. Little does he know that when he would go to confess his love to Tessa, he find find out that Jem has proposed to her and she said yes.

The love triangle has me on the edge of my seat constantly.

I was shocked when reading this book when Jessamine became mysteriously disappearing at night. I always knew Nate (Nathaniel) had a secret though.

There is so much more to this book than what i have written i know but these parts for me are the bits i love. 🙂

confess by colleen hoover.

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry. For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it. The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin.

I loved this book, i liked how as soon as i started reading it i knew that they both had secrets that would have to be revealed, that made me want to keep reading. Which i why i read this book in around 2 days. I gave this book 4.5/5 stars, although i really enjoyed it i felt like it was a but rushed and that everything happened all at once.  I was amazed at how the art work related and worked so well with the story (my favourite from the book is below). To me the painting explains every relationship that ensues throughout the book.

Owen. Wow. He seems like the most down to earth guy that ever lived. I love how passionate he is about he art and chooses the right buyer for all his pieces.

If you haven’t read this book I highly recommend it. This was tha first Colleen Hoover novel i had ever read and i really want to read more.

Hope you enjoyed, i suck at these.

Warner Bros Studio Tour, The Making Of Harry Potter!

I recently went to London on June 12th to go to the Warner Bros Studio Tour, The Making of Harry Potter. I’ve been a Harry Potter fan for a while but I when I was younger I was never really interested in reading the books. I’ve got back in to reading around two years ago now and I’ve read a lot since then. One of my new year resolutions (or just a goal that I set for myself) was to start and complete all of the books in the Harry Potter series, and I have.

My experience at Warner Brothers was amazing, I was so excited to be there I kept running off. If you plan on going soon I recommend that as soon at you arrive you eat and drink something because there is a lot to see before you get another chance to eat or drink. Just seeing pictures scattered around of the cast made me really excited and happy.

Walking around and seeing everything was amazing. When we got there we were given a digital guide that talked us through different sets as we walked round, which was amazing because told us things about the making of the movies that no one else would of known. I was able to ride a broomstick which was the most amazing experience ever!
